Amelia VFD is a 100% volunteer department with 142 dedicated members, 20 pieces of apparatus, and 5 stations throughout the county. The volunteers respond to fire & EMS emergencies, performing most rescue services within the county, and also assist our neighbors with mutual aid when needed. We are located 30 miles west of the city of Richmond, Va.

On January 6th, 2016 companies 1, 3, 4 and Amelia Emergency Squad Medic 4 were paged for a possible structure fire on Patrick Henry Hwy.. Before marking enroute dispatch notified all companies sprinklers were actively going off but no signs of smoke or fire had been found.

At 1702 hrs, Amelia ECC struck tones for companies 2 and 1 for a report of an outside fire on Rocky Run Ln. Tanker 2 was first to respond with Chief 20 aboard. Chief 20 marked on scene with a acre and a half fast moving fire and a fully engulfed abandoned house.
